What are all these words you're about to throw at me?

Excellent question! Before we start, we should establish some definitions.

Now, with that out of the way...

Why are there a bunch of Sonic characters talking to me?

We're a fictive-heavy system whose frequent fronters are mostly Sonic characters. Please be respectful! We're not roleplayers, and we're not just fictional characters for your amusement. We're real people with real feelings.

Why are you using a bot? Are you trying to hide your identity?

Not at all! We use PluralKit, a bot designed for systems that allows individual members to send messages as themselves. If you need to see what account a proxied message (a message sent through PluralKit) belongs to, you can react with ❓for more info.

I said something to one member. Why did another member respond like I was talking to them?

We share awareness, meaning anything that one member sees, everyone in the system remembers. As such, we're interchangable to a degree, and will often respond to things directed at other members. This isn't to say we're the same person, per se, just that our relationship with individuality from each other is a little complicated.

Why are you talking about your source like they're a separate person? I thought you were your source?

We kind of are, but we kind of aren't. That's another complicated thing. Most of the fictives in this system do consider ourselves to be the same person, but also acknowledge that our sources aren't really people. They're narrative devices. The Miles "Tails" Prower you see in the Sonic games directly isn't a person with agency and feelings, he's a pre-scripted set of images and dialogue meant to give the illusion of a person. The Millie "Tails" Prower that you can talk to in real life, on the other hand, is a real person. Unlike her source, she has real opinions and feelings.

This point is a little complicated, but the gist is that fictional characters aren't people, but fictives are. If you have any biases surrounding our sources, try and put them aside. We're alright with good-natured jokes, but please don't treat us differently just because of how you feel about our sources.

Why do you use a different name from your source?

That depends on which member you're talking about! Millie (Tails), Nami (Kit), and Ven (Silver) are all trans - they formed as the same gender as their sources, but later transitioned and changed their names. Everyone else (Axel, Nova, Valentino, etc.) just uses an alternate name for their own comfort.
